Tonawanda, NY – State and local elected officials, tenants, and other community partners joined TM Montante Development on Wednesday, July 12, to celebrate the 10th Birthday of Riverview Solar Technology Park, a 200-acre business park overlooking the Niagara River in Tonawanda, NY.
“Tom Montante, the founder and CEO of our company, had the visionary idea to start developing Riverview Solar Technology Park in this beautiful location along the Niagara River about fifteen years ago,” said Matthew Montante, TM Montante Development COO. “It’s been a long and sometimes challenging road to transform these 200 acres of land into a sustainable business park, but we continue to make steady progress. It is so exciting to look back now on all that we have accomplished.”
Matthew Montante recalls the first ribbon-cutting ceremony in 2007, when TM Montante Development celebrated the completion of the first building at the Solar Park and welcomed Sherex Fastening Solutions as its first tenant. “We are pleased to report that Sherex continues to thrive here under the leadership of Adam Pratt. They are as committed as we are to operating their business in a sustainable way, and we are thankful to them. We are also thankful to our growing roster of tenants at Riverview Solar Technology Park, including FedEx Trade Networks, Mohawk Industries, Tyco and Unifrax. We are especially proud of the fact that we have sustained 100% tenant retention since the Solar Park opened.” Collectively, these tenants employ more than 450 people at Riverview Solar Technology Park. In addition, Montante Construction is currently building a new 20,000 square foot headquarters for Pine Pharmaceuticals, which is expected to be completed later this year.
Through collaboration with Montante Solar, Riverview Solar Technology Park is being developed as a living solar technology lab that delivers solar power to all buildings on site. There are numerous solar arrays throughout the park that utilize new and evolving solar technologies, including ground-mounted and roof-mounted solar arrays, as well as building-integrated photovoltaics, in which solar panels become an integrated part of the structural design of a building. Additionally, all buildings at Riverview Solar Technology Park are constructed using the latest green construction methods to minimize environmental impacts and maximize energy efficiency.
According to Christian Campos, TM Montante Development President, it has always been important for the company to pursue development that embraces sustainability. “It is gratifying to develop projects that have a minimal impact on the environment and a lasting positive impact on the community, and that is why we are so proud to be here today with our tenants and project partners. We are celebrating 10 years of successful development that has always kept both the environment and the local community top of mind.”
TM Montante Development unveiled their vision for the next phase of development at the Solar Park, which includes infrastructure improvements, additional development projects along River Road, and the extension of Riverwalk Parkway south to provide shovel ready access to more than 100 acres of additional development parcels ranging from 5 to 15 acres in size.
“We are excited to mark this date and thank our tenants and project partners, which have been an important part of our success at Riverview Solar Technology Park,” said Christian Campos. “We look forward to many more ground breakings to come.”
