PARK INSTALLS SOLAR PROJECT
Buffalo, N.Y., October 1, 2011
Riverview Solar Technology Park in the Town of Tonawanda has installed a solar demonstration project with DuPont Apollo, which will test the technology in tough weather. TM Montante Development, the developer of the business park, designed and installed the 5.7 kilowatt project. It will supply power for signs and lighting, offsetting nearly 100 percent of the power needs at the park's entrance on River Road The project allows DuPont Apollo, a DuPont subsidiary, to test its silicon-based thin film photovolatic technology's performance in the cooler, harsher conditions of the NOrtheast. Its thin-film silicon solar panels have typically been installed outside the United States in sourthern climates.

SOLAR POWER DEMONSTRATED AT RIVERVIEW SOLAR TECHNOLOGY PARK
Tonawanda, N.Y., October 1, 2011
A local company is introducing what it calls the state’s first
solar-ready business park at its River Road, North Tonawanda location
today at the Riverview Solar Technology Park.
Dupont Apollo, a subsidiary of Dupont, manufactures the technology and
also supplied the demonstration with a product called thin-filmed solar
panels, which can be found mounted on five eight-foot poles and generate
six kilowatts.
The Dupont plant in the town also makes Tedlar, a product integral to the production of the solar technology.
“I believe it is a first of its kind project,” said Daniel Montante,
director of solar project development for TM Montante Development. “It’s
a relatively new technology.”
Montante said the reality is that environmental conditions in Western
New York are better suited for the thin-filmed solar modules, while the
majority of business conducted with solar products often lies in the
warmer climates of Asia.
“From a market prospective the biggest opportunity is at latitudes
similar to where we are here,” he said. “This technology tends to
perform very well here. It does well at dusk and dawn.”
Riverview Solar Technology Park is a 180-acre commercial development
site, Montante said, and features office space, light manufacturing as
well as research and development opportunities.
“There is great potential for this project in Western New York to have
an influence on our development of solar technology worldwide,” said
Jrhong Chen, technology group director at DuPont Apollo, in a statement
released Friday.
“Our amorphous silicon PV modules are known for their superior
tolerance to all weather conditions and are comparatively more efficient
at converting the sun’s energy into electricity at dawn and dusk, as
well as on overcast, cloudy days. When it comes to power performance,
optimizing electricity production under real world operating conditions
is a large part of our value proposition.”

TM Montante Development Completes Solar Demonstration Project in Collaboration with DuPont Apollo
BUFFALO, N.Y., September 30,
2011 – TM Montante Development LLC (TM Montante), a commercial developer of
real estate and solar energy projects, today announced the completion of a solar
installation demonstration project at the Riverview Solar Technology Park with DuPont
Apollo, a wholly-owned subsidiary of DuPont specializing in silicon-based thin
film photovoltaic (PV) technology. This demonstration
project will serve as a case
study and reference project in a strategic market ideally suited for the
technology.
Located at the entrance
of the Riverview Solar Technology Park, the installation features DuPont Apollo
amorphous silicon thin film PV modules. The
installation was designed and installed by TM Montante after receiving approval
from New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) in
April 2011. The 5.7 kilowatt project will
supply power for signs and lighting offsetting nearly 100 percent of the power
needs at the entrance of the Park.

Participates in WNY Solar and Green Buildings Tour
TM Montante Development’s Riverview Solar Technology Park is
being featured in this weekend’s 2011 Solar and Green Buildings Tour, organized
by Western New York Sustainable Energy Association(WNYSEA). This
self-guided tour is the State’s largest green buildings tour and will be taking
place this Saturday, October, 1, 2011 between 10am-4pm. The tour is free, open
to the public, and exhibits over 30 buildings in WNY that use either solar,
wind, geothermal or other types of sustainable energy sources.
The tour kicks off with a celebration at the
Innovation Center in the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus(640 Ellicott St.
Buffalo, NY). For more information, visit the WNYSEA website.
